Jan was born and raised on her grandfather’s alligator and turtle farm around 45 minutes north of New Orleans, La. While this type of farming was not typical, Jan had numerous experiences to take pictures of various people/animals that were on the farm and of the tourists that would come to visit. She has always loved to be creative and took 3 years of art classes in high school. While she was working on her degree in Speech Pathology, and she managed to complete a photography course. Jan’s photojournalistic style when taking pictures is to let the person's personality show through the pictures. Jan believes natural settings can be great especially for children. The more relaxed the atmosphere, the better the pictures.
